Fire Engine
This Mercedes 1120AF had served it's life as a fire engine and was ready to be kitted out as something different.
Removing The Rear Body
The rear body and the water tank are removed to make way for the habitation box.
Chassis Extension
To accommodate the size of box requested by the customer the wheelbase was extended by 1200mm to 4.8m.
Torsion Test
We carried out a torsion test post chassis extension to determine the torsional centre of the chassis so we can position the torsion free subframe mounts in the correct position.
CAD Design
The whole project was designed on SolidWorks CAD which allowed us to get everything exactly to the customer's specification.
Subframe
The subframe ready to build the box around. All our subframes are made from S355 structural steel and are hot dip galvanized for the ultimate corrosion protection.
Box Build
The composite panels are bonded together to form the box.
Habitation Box Finished
Here the box has been fitted to the truck and is ready for a coat of paint and the accessories fitting.
Toolboxes and Side Skirts
The powder coated aluminium side skirts and toolboxes are bolted to the subframe and not only add a lot or storage but help to integrate the habitation box to the truck.
The Finished Build
With everything fitted the truck is ready for it's interior fitout and the next chapter in it's life.
