MAN 10.244 Expedition Build
This build put a 5.3m habitation box with integrated motorbike garage on this lovely MAN 10.244. This provided lots of space inside for it's new owner to build a great interior which was light, comfortable and practical.
The Big MAN
The base vehicle was stripped down, anything unnecessary removed then we fitted mudguards and a large diesel tank to provide plenty of fuel capacity.
A Beefy Frame
A big truck needs a big subframe, especially to support the weight of the motorbike garage at the rear, so we designed it in CAD software, assessing it with FEA simulations to add weight saving cut-outs where possible.
The frame was then fabricated from high strength steel and hot dip galvanised to provide corrosion protection.
Aluminium Framework
The structure of the motorbike garage was made from welded aluminium section, providing strong but lightweight support.
The Box Comes Together
The panels are then bonded in around the frames, making a superbly well insulated and strong habitation box.
Articulation Test
With the box complete an articulation test is carried out to ensure that there are no clearance issues and the truck is as capable offroad as it can be.
Painted
With a coat of light blue paint the truck is really starting to look the part. It is ready to have it's toolboxes and side skirts fitted to finish it off.
A Way In
With the toolboxes fitted on the RHS, some footholds are added to the box below the door to provide quick access or if there is not enough space for the full set of steps.
Ready to Go
With a final test drive the truck is handed over to it's owner to kit out the interior.
Fully Fitted
Here is a snap of the inside after being fitted out. We think our customer did an amazing job and all agree that the interior works really well.
