We have recently developed a new version of these made entirely from aluminium. These clip on to the side of the vehicle via two sprung plungers and rest on the ground.
The aluminium construction means that the steps only weigh 7kg so are easy to lift on to their mountings.
They are powder coated in black RAL9005 to match the other accessories.
We usually stow them on the rear of the box so they are out of the way, we have two bonded on brackets that the steps clip into securely.
The downside of them resting on the floor is that you may have to pack one side up with a wedge or a stone if the ground is uneven, but the advantage of the clip on design is that they don’t take up any space below the subframe, so the door can be positioned anywhere along the side of the box.
The above price includes the steps, the subframe mounting, the box mounting brackets, and the labour to fit all of the above.
These steps are designed to work with our Unimog Build subframes, but can be easily adapted to fit other campers.
