A Semi-automatic Tyre Inflation System (STIS) has retractable air lines for each wheel that can be connected when stationary and can then be used to simultaneously adjust the pressures using the vehicle's air system.
The centralised controls make alterations easy and consistent so you no longer need to go around with a air line and pressure gauge.
This system is much less complicated than an integrated Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS) and as a result makes a much more affordable option for tyre pressure adjustments.
We use a system made by the French company Teleflow as we have found it to be simple, reliable and well priced.
The coiled air lines sit inside waterproof housings with screw on lids that can be mounted anywhere on the exterior of the vehicle in reach of their allotted wheel.
The controls for the system have their own housing so can be mounted on the exterior of the vehicle though we usually mount this on the rear wall of a toolbox to keep it safe.
