Injectors
It’s rare that we encounter an older SBU Unimog which isn’t improved by fitting a set of reconditioned injectors.
For a modest outlay of £810-950+VAT including fitting you can expect to see a discernible improvement in how the vehicle starts and runs coupled with a reduction in visible smoke especially on start up.
Uprated Injector Pump
Simply reconditioning the injector pump and fitting a new set of injectors will help any Unimog. It is likely that a few horses have escaped since it left the factory so this will bring it back up to spec.
A properly set up injection system gives cleaner burning, less smoke & more power.
For additional cost injection pumps can often be recalibrated to produce an increase on the standard power output. For optimum benefit we recommend changing the injectors at the same time as the injection pump.
We have a dedicated diesel injection workshop with a genuine Bosch test equipment to ensure that all reconditioning and recalibration is carried out to the same standards as original.
We only use OEM parts or high quality aftermarket where OEM isn't available.
When refitting an injection pump it is necessary to check the timing of the engine and to carry out some fine adjustments to optimise the results.
We can supply some injection pumps & all injectors on an exchange basis. We apply a surcharge to the invoice which is refunded upon receipt of old units for reconditioning.
When we do not have a suitable pump in stock we can recondition your own pump. The turnaround time is usually 1-2 weeks but this will depend on the condition of the pump and any parts which must be ordered.
If you send us the details from the ID plate of the injection pump we can tell you what is possible and the cost for any work.
OM352 Turbo Conversion
Our turbo kit is made to fit the non-turbo OM352 engine found in some U1300L models.
Adding the turbo transforms the naturally aspirated lump from a plodder into a much more willing engine with increased torque from low revs as well as increased power.
Typically power and torque are increased by 20%. This can be further enhanced by injection upgrades.
We have carried out the conversion on over 50 Unimogs including several machines operating overseas in high temperatures such as South Africa and Australia so its credibility is very well proven.
This is a straightforward conversion using many genuine parts, but we have developed our own air pipes so that the standard rocker cover can be re-used.
Please note the exhaust intermediate pipe is not included with this kit as there are many variations from one model to another. We can supply a suitable intermediate pipe for your Unimog at an added cost.
We recommend replacing the injectors with a set which have the correct spray pattern to match the turbo.
Depending on the condition and type of injection pump fitted it is possible to adjust the fuel delivery to match the turbo or for even better results we can recalibrate your own injection pump to optimise performance.
Cost for the kit, fitted and tested is from £3950 + VAT.
Intercooler Kit
By intercooling and improving the injection Mercedes produce 210hp and even 240hp out of the robust Unimog engine, it is possible to fit these parts to the SBU mogs however the costs are prohibitive and also involve raising the whole cab to accommodate the extra radiator and pipework.
We have developed a retro-fit system which has proved to be very successful (we've sold over 200 kits worldwide). The price includes a new re-styled front grille and a "power bulge" which is fitted to your existing bonnet.
For optimum benefit we can usually supply a recalibrated injection pump and suitable injectors to maximise horsepower and engine efficiency.
We recommend fitting a new heavy duty extra cooling radiator when fitting the intercooler kit.

Power Upgrade Process
For optimum results we recommend that all power upgrades are carried out in our workshop as some symptoms can be misdiagnosed by inexperienced mechanics.
The procedure we follow includes:
-Test drive vehicle.
-Thorough check over of engine including turbo, air pipe work, fuel lines etc.
-Adjust valve clearances as necessary.
-Check and adjust timing.
-Remove & test injectors.
-External check of injection pump and throttle linkage.
-Compression test engine.
-Report back to customer with results to discuss best options.
