Overdrive

Customers have frequently asked us to increase the road speed of their Unimogs or to reduce revs at a given road speed.

The gearbox fits on the back of the engine and gives increased top speed or reduced engine revs at a given speed. The ratio is 20%.

Please note the high speed overdrive can only be fitted on Unimogs without the PTO box (which is at the back of the engine).

We have excellent feedback on these units, namely improved top speed, fuel economy and reduced noise level. The unit works on all gears so adds a 'half gear' between each gear, ideal for towing applications.

Because the overdrive can be pre-selected a much quicker down change (out of overdrive) can be achieved which is particularly useful on a steep incline where a loss of momentum can be a problem.

Fitting is fairly straight forward and can usually be done within 2 days depending on access to the individual Unimog.

If your Unimog has a PTO box mounted to the rear of the engine this must be removed in order to fit the overdrive.
