Engine Upgrades

There a few ways to coax a bit more power out of most diesel truck engines, especially if the manufacturer also produced the same engine in higher horsepower specifications.

The injector pumps can be tuned and matched to a set of new injectors which can give a good power increase. We have a Bosch injector pump test bench here so can calibrate a range of pumps.

A naturally aspirated engine may be able to have a turbo fitted which compresses the intake air; thereby getting more air into the engine which makes for better combustion of the fuel.

It is also possible to increase the fuelling (to get more fuel into the engine) as it can now be burnt because of the greater volume of air produced by the turbo.

We have turbo conversion kits for both the Mercedes OM352 and OM366 engines which may be adaptable to fit a truck with these engines.

It is also sometimes possible to fit an intercooler to a turbocharged engine, especially if the truck was able to be specified with one originally. This cools the air from the turbo before entering the engine and allows for more fuel to be injected and therefore more power.
